Georgina Atkin is an Edmontonian through and through. She has lived in the city for 49 years, was married here, raised 4 children, and has lived in the same house for 40 years! Her care for Edmonton and its citizens shows in her work and passions. Georgina is a registered nurse that is currently working at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in the Lois Hole Hospital for Women post partum unit. Her dedication to and love for the city has kept her working there since 1991. Georgina also absolutely loves working in her yard! Her hard work has even been nominated multiple times for Front Yards in Bloom. But when she’s not working as a nurse or in her yard, she is organizing special events for the entire hospital.
Georgina’s passion for special events has translated into her submission idea for The Edmonton Project. The Advent Festival was inspired by the many trips she has taken to Europe during the holiday season. The Advent Festival would embody the idea of Edmonton being a friendly winter city where people get out and embrace the winter and Christmas spirit.
