This Edmontonian has spent the majority of his life and professional career in and around the Edmonton area. After completing his Bachelors and Masters degrees at the University of Manitoba, Matthew has returned and remained in Edmonton, eager to share his ideas and knowledge with his fellow citizens. This architect has an affinity for the distinct seasons that Edmontonians experience, which shows through in his idea for The Edmonton Project. Channeling his experience as project designer on various transformative projects, he wants to create a new way to connect with the river valley all year round with winter pavilions.
The inspiration for this great idea came from Matthew’s family. As a father of two young kids, Matthew and his wife find themselves using the trails of the river valley extensively throughout the summer. Because of this, he was prompted to create a space that would encourage other Edmontonians, visitors, and families to interact with their environment in a new and exciting way. Matthew believes that the built environment shapes and supports our lives; quality design improves them.
