What’s Next?

For Immediate Release – Edmonton – March 12, 2018 – Now that the Gondola Over the North Saskatchewan has been chosen for development, the question has changed from “What’s Edmonton made of?” to “What’s next?”

Individuals from the entrepreneurial private industry in Edmonton started The Edmonton Project and it will remain led by innovative private citizens and businesses. “The people behind The Edmonton Project and their companies are committed to never stop building a better Edmonton. Really, all that has changed is now we are going to focus on a gondola,” said Alyson Hodson, President & CEO of zag creative and Founding Partner of The Edmonton Project.

Dialogue has already begun with influential companies from around the world including gondola financiers and operators as far away as Medellin, Colombia. Private industry will work collaboratively with City Hall, and every single person that is lucky enough to call Edmonton home, to continue to build our city.

Since the inception of The Edmonton Project, it has had great support from elected officials and administration. As citizens, they were as intrigued as any other within our city. The Edmonton Project has not asked for, nor has the City offered, public money. In the coming months, a plan will be developed that outlines the practical realities of delivering the gondola to Edmonton. That plan will be bold and robust, containing facts and figures and a compelling business case to ensure the commitment of private industry.

“I believe the gondola idea is the right idea at the right time in the right place. Let’s work together to prove it to ourselves,” said Founding Partner Jeffrey Hansen-Carlson from EllisDon.

Launching at the end of August 2017, The Edmonton Project put out a call for entries to Edmontonians to submit their ideas for a permanent place of attraction in Edmonton. Now that one idea has been selected for development, support from private industry will be needed to help bring it to life.
